CHRISTOPHER P. WOOD - The Other World
8th - 30th May, 2008
Christopher P Wood was born in Leeds in 1961 and studied at Leeds Polytechnic before completing an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea in 1986. He has had a series of solo shows in London, in Yorkshire and Australia. Nicholas Usherwood, editor of Galleries say of his work, "In recent years his work has taken on an increasingly visionary quality where he uses an intense, high-pitched colour and a virtuoso painterly technique in his paintings to create imagery that seems to describe some kind of earthly paradise of an almost Blakean strangeness and beauty".

The Artists Open Houses offer a fantastic opportunity for visitors to see artwork displayed in a domestic setting and to buy work from local artists. Entry is free and visitors will be able to view John Kelly's work in his Brighton home. There will be paintings, prints and sculpture on display and available to buy.
Flat 1, 10 Lewes Crescent, Brighton BN2 1FH
This year's Artists Open Houses festival will cover the first four weekends of May 3rd & 4th, 10th & 11th, 17th & 18th, 24th & 25th.
John Kelly will be exhibiting at Agnew's in early 2009.
Agnew's are to move to new premises from their historic building at 43 Old Bond Street which has been sold. In the new gallery we will continue our existing Old Master paintings and drawings business and intend to expand our activities in 20th century British and living artists following the appointment of a new director of contemporary art.
"We are looking forward to a new and exciting era in the life of the company," said Julian Agnew, the chairman of Agnew's. "Agnew's has a strong balance sheet and an injection of capital from the sale of 43 Old Bond Street will reinforce this and enable us to trade vigorously as we move further into the 21st century."
